Minutes, agendas, and resolutions document proposed and executed actions of the agency. These minutes and resolutions discuss the activities of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, particularly the coordination and consolidation of budget requests by universities and junior colleges. Also discussed was a temporary moratorium on new graduate programs in the 1970s, inventoried academic programs offered, student loans and Title XII issues, and many other matters related to higher education in Ala. Among the board were Earl M. McGowin, G. Sage Lyons, J. Marvin Albritton, J. Pelham Ferrell, Tom Brazeal, Jim Oakley, A. Schuyler Baker, Sid McDonald, Hugh Parker, and Jimmy Faulkner. The executive directors included Clanton W. Williams (1971-1973), John F. Porter, Jr. (1973-1981), and Joseph T. Sutton (1981- ).
